"THE CLAP OF ONE PALM"

THE PRESS RELEASE OF "THE CLAP OF ONE PALM" EXHIBITION
On October 28, at 18:00 the ZERO LINE gallery opens display – "Cotton of One Palm". Such name is carried by one of a zen - Buddhist parables. For many the Buddhism is exotic religion, for others – the mystical philosophical doctrine which is often associated with the Tibetan monks-hermits meditating in far mountain monasteries. But, the Buddhism is much closer, than can seem to us – an upcoming event – to that the proof.
The central axis of an exposition is display of a private collection of Buddhist icons – the tank or a tkhangk (widespread in tradition of the Tibetan direction of the Buddhism – Vajrayana), from V. Akhunov's meeting; which part elements of a traditional altar of Buddhists, objects of cult small plasticity also are.
Organizers of gallery aim not just to expose a private collection, and to enter it in a context of segodnyashy day and today's place, using for this purpose all available media opportunities. Therefore ZERO LINE will show how representatives of various generations of the Uzbek art scene in own way perceived graphic tradition, subject components of Buddhist art, and also certain aspects of philosophy of the Buddhism. Within the Cotton of One Palm exhibition works of the following artists are provided: M. Kagarov, L. Ibragimov, V. Akhunov, Sh. Abdullaeva, N. Negmatov.
The rich heritage in the form of historical monuments of the Buddhist period in the south of Uzbekistan (ancient settlement Dalverzintepe, Karatepe, Fayaztepe, Kurgantepe) and in the Fergana Valley (ancient settlement Kuva) became the soil for the appeal of authors to this subject. The viewer will also be able to get acquainted with materials about archaeological evidences of the Buddhist last Central Asian region.
Display of a collection of jewelry of silver of the designer and the jeweler, Alyony Gurevich will become the finishing moment.
A. Gurevich grew in Tashkent, now lives and works in Israel. Within the last three years, together with the artist Alexey Dmitriyev, is engaged in creation of a collection which main concept consists in organic merge of forms of archaic jewelry art of the East and modern technologies of the West.
The Cotton of One Palm exhibition aims not only to show work with a private collection (that is one of priority activities of gallery), but to show richness and flexibility of the Buddhist doctrine thanks to what it found followers worldwide, and also to show methods of perception by the modern artist of both a graphic form, and philosophical content of Buddhist tradition.
Display of an exposition will be extended till December 1, 2016.
The entrance for visitors of display free, however, is welcomed by organizers of an exhibition acquisition of reproductions on subject of an exposition.
